We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to the Guam Rugby Club’s 12th annual Budweiser TRUE GRIT tournament to be held on 7-8 March, 2009. 

The weekend is a rugby fiesta weekend and we welcome you all to show your true GRIT game face through your awesome team plays, generous sponsorship and support of the players who make up the True GRIT 2009 experience.

International Teams are expected from around Asia and the Pacific. We especially look forward to the true GRIT skills of the womens teams involvement in the GVB Asian Womens Cup.

On behalf of all players, sponsors and supporters we would like to thank you all once again for your involvement in supporting rugby on Guam and look forward to your true GRIT support  in 2009.

Time

:

10:00- 18:00 both days.

 

 

 

 

 

Venue

:

Guam Rugby Club, Wettengel Rugby Field, Dededo.

 

 

 

 

 

Tournament

:

The tournament is a mens 10-a-side and womens 7-a-side round robin event with teams playing each other in pool play on Day 1 followed by Cup, Plate and bowl knockout competitions on Day-2.

Referees will be drawn from the HK & Japan Referees Societies. 

Tournament Rules will be sent out separately to pre-registered teams.

 

 

 

 

Team Squads

:

7-a-side, with 3 reserves. 10-a-side, with 5 reserves. Free Laundry service for your rugby kits on Saturday.

 

 

 

Accomodation

:

Own accommodation and package deals may be made with your own agent.

Outrigger Hotel and Ohana Resorts, have a variety of rooms from basic rooms to 4 people suites, swimming pool, kitchenette for self cooking (ohana oceanview), and all are close to beach and restaurants. A bus operates to all shopping malls with entertainment areas in walking distance.

 

 

 

 

Ohana Resort

:

Accommodation will cost about USD75 per room. 50% deposits will be required to be paid by 15th January, 2009. We have in recent years encountered significant difficulties in securing sufficient accommodation due to late confirmations and deposits, and would appreciate your understanding and early response;

 

 

 

 

Transport

:

Bus transport to and from Wettengel Rugby Field will be provided on both days of the tournament for teams and officials. Transport will pick up from hotel in the morning before games start and drop off in the afternoon after games have finished.

 

 

 

 

Food

:

Snacks, sandwiches, BBQ, water, soda, beers may be purchased at the field.

 

 

 

 

Weekend Social Entertainment

 

SATURDAY BEACH PARTY 7pm all teams invited to join us in our traditional team social event. “All you can eat and drink seafood buffet” USD$40 pp. 

SUNDAY TONY ROMAS RIBS FIESTA is held after awards at 6pm for $10 pp.

 

 

 

 

Welcome Drinks

 

Friday 6pm Sunset Drinks and light snacks await you on the beach at the Outrigger Hotel where team draws and more true GRIT rugby information is available.

 

 

 

 

GRIT Service

 

Complimentary drinks and snacks. 6pm Friday Sunset Outrigger beach.

Transportation to and from field both days.

Cooler/Esky/Chilli bin full of ice cold water for each team.

Sweaty Rugby Kit cleaned Saturday smells like fresh Snuggles on Sunday.

Slab of beer post game drinks on Sunday.

15 mens or 10 womens tickets for Sunday Tony Romas Ribs Fiesta BBQ.

 

 

 

 

Cost

 

EARLY REGISTRATION

US$350 for 10s teams and US$200 for women's 7s teams, payable by 15th January, 2009;

After January 15th 2009 team registration is US$450 for 10s and US$350 for 7s.
